Menopause - what exactly is it?

Suddenly, menopause, which used to be a kind of taboo subject, is hitting the headlines.

There are articles in newspapers and magazines and celebrities are talking about it on chat shows.

Why is it now a matter of interest? It has been happening for a long time but suddenly it seems it's the height of fashion.

I have recently obtained The Jennifer Young Certificate of Advanced Menopause Awareness and am going to share that knowledge with you in a series of posts.

I am going to try to cover as much as possible regarding menopause, which I believe/hope will be of interest to any woman either approaching 'that age', those of you going through it and what to expect on the other side.

On my site there is also a Menopause Group; it's there for you to join and connect with each other to share experiences and ask any questions regarding any issues you may have, or to share tips. A subscription menopause membership group will be coming soon but at the moment it is free to join, just head over to the tab on my website www.wellover50.co.uk

There will also be a forum for anyone to discuss issues relating to menopause - just join in!

The NHS describes Menopause as:

The menopause is when a woman stops having periods and is no longer able to get pregnant naturally."

Whilst the NHS does devote five paragraphs to it, there is a little more to it than that!

Did you know:

The figures above are just scratching the surface. Menopause is a many-faceted thing and this series of posts will hopefully give you some more insight into this natural part of a woman growing older.

Head over to www.wellover50.co.uk and join the Menopause Group!
